Travel Diary - Portugal

Project Introduction

Project Description

We are the guys of the Carlo Urbani high school in San Giorgio a Cremano (NA), as every year our
school has allowed us to take part in the Erasmus Humanoid Robots for a Future World project,
started in the year 2019 2020, by other students of the school and finished by us in the school year
2021 2022. This project consists in creating a robot programmed by the guys in this way, we have
worked so much to achieve great results both in the educational field, of computer skills and
interpersonal relationships that has obviously united the group even more making the work more
beautiful. Thanks to the mobility to Portugal, our team was able to compare itself with the work
done by the other delegations: Greece, Austria, Turkey and Portugal, and put its work to best use.
Now it’s up to the guys who are leaving for Greece to finish what we started.
We shared all our activities on the official Erasmus platform: e-twinning. An open digital space that
allows us to share what we do and learn from the work of other delegations.
A cause of emergency period covid-19 , our team was forced to work even at a distance . It was
hard but fortunately the lessons in attendance are back soon with compliance with all the covid
normative.

On the morning of our first day in Portugal, 07 03 22, we worked on the presentation that we
should have supported on 9 03 22 . We divided into two groups : the group worked on the school
presentation part and the robotics group worked on the presentation of the computer project. In the
afternoon we met the Greek and Austrian delegations, made friends with them and visited the city
of Barcelos.
The 8 03 22 we were greeted for the first time at the Escola secundaria de Barcelinhos .
At the entrance we were given cards with our names and surnames, the planning of the days we
would spend there in a canvas bag. After that we saw a presentation of the school and then they
divided all the delegations into three mixed groups with 2 Portuguese guides. Every other time we
've danced, played volleyball and rode our bikes. At lunchtime we were greeted in the school
cafeteria and we ate together with the other delegations. In the afternoon we visited the city of
Guimaraes and attended a presentation given by the professors of the university of robotics, very
interesting. Then ,we toured the city among fountains , immense gardens and many characteristic
shops. In the late afternoon we went back to school , greeted our new friends and went to the
hotel.

On the morning of the day 9 04 22 we returned to school to show the presentation of our school
and our project and see those of the other delegations. Then , we divided into mixed groups and
worked on the design of small robot models. Once designed, we simulated a race and the various
robots competed in a circuit. The robot that in less time has reached the end of the circuit has won.
In the afternoon unfortunately we were forced to cancel the visit to Braga because of the bad
weather, so we had free time to tour the city or just relax. In the evening we went back to school to
have dinner together. Afterwards, with the professors, we had a moment of recreation between
music, dances and songs . Each delegation brought a bit of their own musical culture and it was a
lot of fun. At the end of the evening, the teachers gave all the students their certificates of
participation of this experience. Then we separated and each delegation went back to their hotel

10 04 22 was the last day spent in Portugal. From morning until evening we visited the city of
Porto. We saw the station, many shops, characteristic streets and the famous bridge , where we
admired a fantastic view. In the afternoon we greeted all our friends and went to the hotel to
prepare the suitcases since the same night we had to leave. In the evening Italian group,
celebrated the end of this incredible experience.
